Product Manager / Owner

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop the vision, roadmap and backlog for your product area; ensuring alignment to business goals and our technology strategy

  • Be the champion for your product – produce and present clear communications to ensure buy-in

  • Explain customer and business needs to your Scrum team, and collaborate effectively with them to break down complex pieces of work into smaller items ready for development; work with the team to write user stories and acceptance tests, participate in sprint ceremonies and provide clear direction on sprint goals

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of product iterations, prioritising work and adapting to changing requirements/new learnings by making appropriate trade-offs that deliver maximum value at pace

  • Communicate progress, proactively manage risks & issues, escalating to your Product Lead where necessary

  • Work closely with stakeholders across technology, creative, operations and business functions, collaborating effectively with software engineers, architects, data scientists, digital designers, your wider product team and 3rd parties to launch new products/features

  • Create sustainable improvement across the business by following Operational Excellence principles, maximising opportunities for simplicity, synergy and re-use

  • Work with your Product Lead to prioritise, coordinate and communicate the resolution of live issues

  • Work with your Product Lead to identify desirable third-party technologies, evaluate/select vendors, negotiate agreements/contracts, and manage relationships as required

  • Work with your Product Lead to define product management budgets, and develop the benefit/business case(s) for your product area

  • Work with your Product Lead to coordinate post-launch activities that validate products work as designed and assess value realisation

  • Establish and adapt KPIs for your product area. Understand and report progress against agreed outcomes and related success measures.

  • Use data to drive analysis of new features / iterations and drive prioritisation of future work

 

What you need to know

  • 3+ years product management experience

  • Ability to analyse processes and data to draw insights, and identify opportunities/actions

  • Familiar with Agile methodologies (such as Kanban and Scrum) and associated planning & prioritisation skills

  • Understanding and experience of software development practices

  • A strong technical grounding, comfortable having technical discussions with the Scrum team and wider stakeholders

  • Great presentation, written & verbal communication skills

  • Anticipate risks and assess impact, understand dependencies, and facing into difficult conversations to define appropriate actions that mitigate and/or resolve issues
